In the article of Methland: The Death and Life of an American Small Town, by Nick Reading he reviews how Meth can destroy not only a person, but also their family. Reading focuses on a small town and how the economy falling has had an effect on why meth was being used in Oelwein, Iowa. He talked to people that have let the meth take over their lives. Reading also traveled through several small towns in America, to talk to people that let the drug take over their lives. He realized that meth is following all these small towns, and he talks about how certain groups are influenced by meth. The way meth takes over your body, is because your body is working so hard to keep functioning, and meth is doing the complete opposite. It is destroying your body, and your body just keeps wanting the drug. Reading wrote this article, because he wanted to get the word out why meth is so dangerous in small towns.

This article can relate to essay 3 because it shows how meth can take over a person life, and there family's. Meth can take over a small town, and it can also give some happiness to the people using it. These towns are small poor towns, and meth can cause a small income for these people. Since the drug is so addicting people will always come back to it.

This compares to Winter Bone, because in Winters Bone it is about a small town that uses meth. The leading characters father cooks meth, and it is destroying himself and his family. I am very sad that this drug exists and how addicted it is. In Winters Bone the reader can see all the bad this drug can do on a family.

  1. I really liked your post Daniel. You covered some great points pertaining to the health effects meth has on the body as well as life in general. You pointed out that users do find some *happiness* when they are using the drug. Happiness, or what they think is happiness. Either way it is something I did not think of in my own evaluation of the article. Good work and great point to use in the future.
