The problem that Swift identifies in his society is the amount of beggers on the street. The mothers of the children are unable to work. Swifts proposal is that children that are one year of age or younger should be sold as a source of food. Of course Swift is not being serious, he doesn't feel like they should really sell their new born babies. Swift's example is to show that Ireland needs to keep the stuff in Ireland and not go and fight for for England. Swift is making fun of rich people in the society and how they act and treat people. His solution is clear and understanding, and he says that it will boast the economy. His example is that it is cheaper to feed a baby for 12 months then to sell one. I believe his satire is clear and is really funny. I think he did a good job in using satire.
Hey Dan, which of these sentences is the thesis statement? Try to "hook" the reader in to read the balance of the paper right away. One of my favorite methods is a situational opening. Purdue owl website has a lot of info on these topics. Good luck.
